Particle Technology Lab’s mission has always been to create partnerships with our clients to understand their needs and to deliver quality results. We take pride in our processes and in the value we provide to each and every one of the many businesses we work with. Our final deliverable has evolved over the years as we have learned and grown alongside our clients, but one thing has always been true; when you work with PTL, you can count on quality and accuracy in your results.
In a previous blog article, we discussed the lifecycle of a project at PTL from inception to final reporting. But what goes into a final report? What is included with your final report? And how do we ensure quality and accuracy in every report? In this article, we’ll take a closer look at the final report and find out.
Anatomy of a Report
On the first page of the report, you will find all of the analytical contact information, company information, and a summary of the sample IDs and received date. Here, you will also see signatures from PTL personnel. There signatures are all of the involved parties in the project and data review; the chemist who performed the analysis, the laboratory technical reviewer, and the quality assurance team member who reviewed the project/report before finalization. Note: the QA signature will only appear for projects conducted according to cGMP or ISO/IEC 17025 standards.

The first thing you will see on the second page of the report is a collection of analysis information. This includes, the instrument and any accessories used, the analytical technique, PTL test method, previous PTL project, client-provided methods, and any internationally recognized standards and methods that were referenced for analysis. This section is a snapshot of the analysis that took place and anything PTL referenced to conduct it.

Below that, you will find the data from the analysis summarized in a table along with any client-supplied specifications for the results. Note: per PTL’s procedures, the results are always rounded to the same decimal place as the specifications unless otherwise requested.

Attachments and Comments
Finally, we wrap things up with a list of attachments and comments relevant to the project. In the attachments, you will often see an explanation page, meant to help with data interpretation, and the original results pages. You can find examples of the original results printouts from all of PTL’s many instruments here. Any other attachments included with the report will also be listed here.
We use the comments section of the report to summarize any important additional details, information, or explanations to give the full picture of the project. This part of the report is often vital to understanding the report and the data therein, but, if anything is ever unclear, please contact us!
The comments section typically concludes the report. However, if multiple analytical techniques are performed under the same project, there will be additional analytical summary pages for each one.
So, Why PTL?
After the report is drafted, it goes through multiple rounds of review before being signed. Throughout this process, PTL maintains our commitment to quality and analytical integrity. When you receive a final report from PTL, you can be sure that we took every step to ensure the accuracy and completeness of the product you are getting. Why wait?
