Particle Technology Labs Announces the Installation of our Newest Image Analysis Instrument, the Malvern Morphologi 4-ID

Particle Technology Labs announces the installation of our newest image analysis instrument, the Malvern Morphologi 4-ID. This instrument will provide the same advanced particle size and shape image analysis as our G3S, however the 4-ID has the added capability to chemically identify particles using Morphologically Directed Raman Spectroscopy (MDRS).

PTL’s Executive Vice President and Director of Analytical Services William K. Kopesky to Present at Malvern Panalytical’s Virtual Laser Diffraction User Meeting

Particle Technology Labs’ Executive Vice President and Director of Analytical Services William K. Kopesky has been invited to be a presenter at Malvern Panalytical’s upcoming Virtual Laser Diffraction User Meeting.

The meeting will be live streamed on February 20th, 2019 from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm CST. This virtual meeting is an initiative by Malvern Panalytical to “foster the diffusion of knowledge and experience between our support team and those researchers that regularly evaluate particle size data from the Mastersizer.” The three-hour presentation will include a panel of experts along with Q&A session for issues, suggestions, improvement, and feedback regarding Mastersizer laser diffraction instrumentation. PTL Receives ACIL Cutomer Quality Service Award

The American Council for Independent Laboratories (ACIL) has announced Particle Technology Labs as one of only 12 recipients of the ACIL Customer Quality Service Award for 2018. This is PTL’s sixth consecutive year in qualifying for this award.

The ACIL Customer Quality Service award program was developed in 1996 to recognize laboratories with exemplary quality performance. This program provides users with a mechanism for evaluating testing laboratories.  Participants are committed to ensuring the integrity of data, meeting customer’s quality needs and setting the standards of performance for the testing laboratory industry.

To participate in the program, laboratories must distribute satisfaction surveys to customers, maintain proof of an annual ethics-training program and an early detection system for questionable analytical practices, and submit a signed code of ethics. The Customer Quality Service Award participants demonstrate that they are proud of the quality they achieve and always operate with customer service as a top priority.

PTL Installs New Humidity Chamber for Pre-analysis Conditioning

During the course of manufacturing, packaging, storage, or transportation, materials are often exposed to a variety of environmental factors, including differences in temperature and humidity. These changes can affect materials in ways which may impact the quality, reliability, or shelf life of a product or ingredient. To mimic these factors, PTL has installed a Memmert HCP108 humidity chamber.

By pre-conditioning sample material in this humidity chamber prior to analysis, PTL can replicate specific environmental conditions to troubleshoot material issues or conduct comparison studies. Sample material is placed into the chamber and held at a controlled level based on client-provided time, temperature, and humidity specifications. The temperature range can be set from 35°C to 90°C and the humidity range from 20%RH to 95%RH. The unit is computer controlled allowing for ramping and cycling of the temperature and humidity at a specified rate.

Storage conditions can be of specific interest when bulk powder properties appear to change between manufacturing locations or production batches. Powder flowability, bulk/tap density and angle of repose are examples of bulk powder properties typically affected by temperature and humidity during storage. PTL can test for these properties in our laboratory. Storage conditions can also cause different polymorphic forms in pharmaceuticals which can be investigated by using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). All of these tests are available at PTL.

Particle Technology Labs is pleased to announce its new ISO/IEC 17025:2005 accreditation status. This accreditation assures PTL customers that laboratory operations, personnel training, equipment calibration, maintenance, and operation and quality assurance systems are in compliance with ISO/IEC 17025:2005 requirements. ISO/IEC 17025 is an internationally recognized quality standard for calibration and testing laboratories. Accreditation to this standard asserts that the laboratory is competent to conduct specific testing as detailed on the certificate of accreditation. For an organization to be ISO 17025 accredited, its facility must undergo a rigorous independent assessment which evaluates the quality management system, training practices, testing programs, and instrument maintenance processes.
